Children’s Science Club celebrates First Anniversary Function.

Dr. Raja Ramanna Children’s Science Club in Bangalore will be celebrating its First Anniversary on August 16. The one-of-its-kind science club in the country is managed by a group of children who organize monthly science lecture series. Prof P Balaram, Director of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will be the chief guest for the evening and will spend time with children in popularizing science.

According to KP Manjunath, Coordinator of the club, “Our objective is to popularize science, motivate the children and drive a very strong desire to excel in science. It is recognized as unit of Karnataka Vigynana Parishat.” The regular science lectures and anniversary would be held at Vivekavardhini School in Bangalore, wherein quiz and exhibition by children would be part of its celebrations.

The event will feature Dr. H R Ramakrishna Rao and Dr. Niranjan Aradhya – President Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat as guests of honour and over 500 children who are more than just science enthusiasts as participants. “Eminent Scientists and Science Communicators have supported us over the last one year, by sparing time and talking to children. They include: Prof M R Nagaraju, Dr Dipankar Banerjee, Dr M G Narasimhan of NIAS, Mr Sampatur Vishwanath, Mr Ananth Nagaraj of ISRO, Mr BG Ramesh, Dr Krishna Pillai, and Dr S V Subramanyam of IISc,, Dr. S S Avadhani- CMTI” informs the man who has been instrumental to instigate children to develop scientific temper through the club.
