"Know your stars" is one of the various collaborative activities planned by Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium (JNP) and Bangalore Astronomical Society(BAS)

This Program is held on every second saturday of the month, About 35 people participated. The presentation and the content was organised very well and the program was well appreciate.

Basically covered, "what's up tonight" and a few basic concepts of astronomy.

Later we had a "Ask an Amateur Astronomer" Session, about 25 people actively participated and questions came from almost all participants.

"Are we really seeing stars as they are now ? and are they really there in that position right now ?"
"why we don't see many stars from Bangalore?"
"why does moon change its shape every day?"
and so on..

Then we all moved to the open sky, we had one telescope for observations. Saturn was shown and it was looking good inspite of the cloudy skies.

BAS would like to thank JN Planetarium Staff for their support and time. Prof. Shukre for providing such a fantastic platform. Dr.BS Shylaja and Mr.Promod for helping BAS in all ways we need.

BAS Volunteers Vishwa, Pavan, Akarsh, Deepak, Rakesh for handling the telescope.
We look forward for more BAS members to attend these sessions.

See you again on May 9th, 2009.
