The blue-sky season is back, and so is BAS's first star party in Jan 2011 after an especially excruciating wait, to the pristine environs of Coorg, Western Ghats.
We carry our telescopes and observe from a 250-yr old estate nestled between the lush greenery of Karada, 20km off Virajpet. The 2 previous star parties here at the same time last year have been witness to the breath-taking Skies & Nature! Yes, our equipment inventory also includes the mighty 17.5" f/5 Discovery Dobsonian!
We plan to reach the estate early in the morning on the 8th of January.(we will be travelling to Coorg by Night) We would be utilizing the day-time for a short- scenic trek to a nearby peak and visiting a breath-taking waterfall nearby.
Evening will be followed as a prelude, by an informative presentation by our observer, Amar Sharma, on "Deep-Sky Observing". The whole night of 8th, till day-break, is intended for experiencing astronomy and observing through the various equipment present, astrophotography, sketching and Astro-chatter.
The 9th morning after rest, we could be visiting a historic 200-yr old Nalknad Palace. We will then head back to Bangalore.

Fee for BAS members(without Transportation) ==Rs. 1900
Fee for Non-BAS members(without Transportation) ==Rs. 2150
*Those who opt for the “without Transportation” Fee will have to make arrangements for Transportation for the To and Fro Journey. BAS will NOT handle any Transportation in this category.
